We are on a journey to create an Advanced Air Mobility network that will shape the future of air transportation and provide lasting value for all New Zealanders

OUR MISSION

To revolutionise air mobility through aerospace innovation to benefit all

New Zealanders

We are in the co-discovery phase of designing a state-of-the-art Advanced Air Mobility eco-system that will enable safe and sustainable air mobility solutions for generations to come.

The VertiLink Group is an Auckland based consortium of companies, dedicated to the integration of Advanced Air Mobility in to the New Zealand Aviation system. VertiLink's initial phase of work is alongside regulatory authorities and stakeholders to allow regulatory reform that will enable AAM operations in New Zealand in the future. Our seperate entity is focussed on the design, development and management of Vertiports and the wider eco-system associated with supporting Advanced Air mobility in New Zealand. A subsidiary entity of the group is working alongside commercial partners to make eVTOL air taxi services and regional air mobility services a reality for New Zealanders in the future.

VertiLink is wholly owned by Aorere Group Holdings Limited, a Māori owned and operated organisation that is passionate about the way that safe, innovative and sustainable aviation can be utilised to add value to our society, and in turn provide benefit for future generations.

The VertiLink Group is 100% committed to ensuring that the work we carry out in this exciting new space aligns with our organisation's core values of Safety, Sustainable Innovation and Social Responsibility.

OUR VALUES

Safety

Safety within the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector is a priority for all industry stakeholders and it is at the front of mind for everything we do at VertiLink. We are committed to ensuring that AAM will be a safe and harmonious means of travel for all. In an evolving space like ours, this means pushing from within Industry to ensure that regulatory legislation covers all aspects of sector safety. Just as importantly, we are focussed on ensuring that we foster a meaningful safety culture within our own organisation, that makes good on this safety promise. You will see our safety culture reflected in everything we do, from regulatory and community consultation, research, and development, right through to the Infrastructure build process and the initiation of AAM operations in time to come.

Social Responsibility

We care about the wellbeing of our communities and the people we work with, and we are equally committed to ensuring that our organisation celebrates inclusiveness and diversity, while upholding principles of fairness and transparency. We actively work alongside Iwi partners, community and Government agencies to ensure that their voices are heard on our journey to put New Zealand at the forefront of the Global AAM sector. Supporting our people through aerospace scholarship opportunities and other charitable benefits is one way that we can give back to our communities and support the next generation of Aerospace innovators.

Sustainable Innovation

We recognise the significant impact that the aviation and transport industries continue to have on our environment.

We care about our planet and are committed to minimising this impact through the development of new and sustainable technologies that will support future Air Mobility. Our company thrives on Innovation and as an organisation, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. Our team are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve and we are committed to making good on our commitment to developing a sustainable form of future air travel to meet New Zealand's ambitious 2050 emissions targets, for the benefit of the next generation, and those who follow.

WHAT WE DO

Advanced Air Mobility Advocacy and Education

The Advanced Air Mobility sector is the result of fast-paced and significant technological development within the Aviation and Aerospace industries.

This emerging sector presents potential for huge change to the way we take to the skies in the future. However, with change, often comes uncertainty.

VertiLink is committed to engaging with our people - Iwi/hapū, communities, Government, regulators and all stakeholders to ensure that the interests of our people are aligned. This will ensure that a future mobility system is co-designed in a way that provides maximum and lasting value for Aotearoa, while allowing for the regeneration of our living systems and the places that we hold dearly as New Zealanders.

What is Advanced Air Mobility?

Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is defined by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) as “an air transportation system that moves people and cargo between places previously not served, or underserved by aviation – local, regional, intraregional, urban – using revolutionary new aircraft that are only just now becoming possible.”

The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) envisions AAM as a “safe and efficient aviation transportation system that will use highly automated aircraft to operate and transport passengers or cargo at lower altitudes within urban and remote areas.”

A large focus is on the passenger-carrying electric vertical take- off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and their support systems to enable this form of transport to evolve. eVTOL aircraft are the most discussed and reported segment of AAM to date. Innovations in distributed electric propulsion systems, electronic controllers, and battery systems have made this type of aircraft possible, which represents a move from a single rotor propulsion system to multi-rotor systems that increase aircraft handling and safety.

With zero source emissions, eVTOL aircraft are significantly more environmentally friendly to the air we breathe than traditional aircraft.

The VertiLink Group welcomes expressions of interest from owners of commercial and medium to low-rise property throughout New Zealand who are interested in exploring the benefits of integrating future vertiport-based infrastructure solutions into their current asset bases. To learn more about this opportunity, please out the form at the bottom of this page. Our team will be in touch with you to discuss this further

Advanced Air Mobility

Research

To enable us to understand the unique benefits that a new and sustainable form of air transportation can offer New Zealanders, we were proud in late 2023 to announce the commissioning of a groundbreaking research project by the New Zealand Government, to be commenced in Q3 of 2024 alongside our Iwi partner, Te Rūnanga o Ngāi te Rangi iwi settlement Trust.

This research will be conducted within the rohe (region) of Tauranga Moana and will aim to determine how the eco-system required to support an Advanced Air Mobility network can be designed in a way that provides maximum benefit for those living in remote and often disadvantaged communities.

The outcome of this research and its results will be used to evidence the long-term benefits of AAM to the New Zealand Ministry for Business, Innovation and Employment, together with other industry stakeholders. Further details of this research can be found at 'Our Projects' page here.

Advanced Air Mobility
Vertiport Plan and Design

VertiLink provides professional services for the planning, design, and construction of Vertiports - the specialised infrastructure required to support the emerging field of Advanced Air Mobility (AAM).

Our team provides expertise in resource planning, vertiport regulatory certification standards, and structural design and engineering requirements.

It is critical to a safe and functional AAM eco-system that infrastructure is designed and implemented in the right manner and location to maximise operational efficiencies while adding value to our communities.

Whakapiri mai, whakatata mai,

Ma te rangi te ao ka ūhia, ma te huruhuru te manu ka rere,

Tīhei Mauri ora!

I am honoured to welcome you to the VertiLink website and to introduce myself as the Chairman of the VertiLink Group of Companies.

I am no stranger to the air travel industry, having spent almost two decades as an International airline pilot flying countless thousands of passengers and air freight tonnage across the globe.

Air travel itself is rapidly embarking on an exciting new journey. With the ongoing advent of improved and emissions friendly technologies, we are about to witness a revolutionary change to the concept of personal air mobility as we currently know it.

My background as an Airline Pilot, Flight Instructor and Aviation Regulator has provided me with a unique insight into the dramatic developments that are unfolding in the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) sector. These developments will herald significant opportunity for New Zealanders to be at the forefront of what will be a fundamental shift in the way we take to the skies in the future.

My commitment to ensure our people are the leaders of this change in Aotearoa, for the benefit of our nation, is what makes this Māori owned organisation so special to my team and I.

I invite you to learn more about who we are here.

I welcome you onboard our ambitious pursuit to pioneer air travel history for the benefit of all New Zealanders.

Charles W. Nelson
